Updated 12may2025:
N.I. was arrested for crimes he did not commit and has been incarcerated since June 16, 1986.
His trial in San Diego ended with a death sentence on Feb 28, 1992, and he was sent to California's Death Row at San Quentin State Prison.

His case was appealed to the Supreme Court of California, which voted 7-0 on Jan 23, 2023 that his original trial was unfair, and reversed the verdict. After 30 years on Death Row, he was 71 years old.
After his conviction was overturned, his case began to gradually move through the system. On Apr 17, 2023, he was transferred from San Quentin Death Row to San Diego County Jail. From March 14-December 26, he was housed and evaluated at Patton State Hospital, then returned to the San Diego County Jail system for further processing.
On Apr 18, 2025 he was released from the San Diego County jail into the care of the county hospital system. We await further developments with hope.
Messages of support and encouragement are welcome. He is able to receive phone calls at the hospital.
