Overview Timeline

Childhood: 1952-1970

N.I. Sequoyah was born January 3, 1952 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the capital of the Cherokee Nation. He was raised with love by his grandparents. He dreamed of a language project he called Anagalisgi.

The Navy Years: 1971-1984 
Following high school, N.I. enrolled in the United States Navy. He trained as an Electronic Warfare Technician and progressed to the rank of First Class Petty Officer responsible for Electronic Warfare Watch supervision. He discovered and joined the Esperanto movement, with enthusiasm. He married a Japanese Esperantist and was blessed with two children. At his own request, he was honorably discharged from the navy in 1984. 

San Diego: 1986-1992 
On December 20, 1985, N.I. was assaulted in San Diego and his car stolen. Understanding that his assailants' intention was to frame him, he escaped and lived underground in San Diego for six months, hoping to find evidence with which to defend himself. During this time he was placed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list. He was arrested for a minor driving infraction in June 1986 and imprisoned under high security for five years in the San Diego County Jail until his trial in 1991. 

San Quentin: 1992-present 
In March of 1992, N.I. was transfered to Death Row in San Quentin State Prison, where he still resides. He occupies his time corresponding with friends and writing science fiction novels.
